Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee extends Children’s Day, Deepavali greetings

MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro, in his message, said that Nehru, who has been described as the “Architect of Modern India”, had put efforts to bring economic, social and political reforms in India.

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people on the occasion of 131st birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru celebrated as Children’s Day on November 14 and Deepavali festival.

MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro, in his message, said that Nehru, who has been described as the “Architect of Modern India”, had put efforts to bring economic, social and political reforms in India. In addition to that, he established the Children’s Film Society of India in 1955 as a platform for the children to showcase their talents, he said.

He also recounted that Nehru took a pivotal role in shaping the future of the youths and students by setting up prominent educational institutions like AIIMS, IIT, IIM.

In his Deepavali message, the MPCC president extended best wishes to the people especially those following Hinduism. He said that the central idea of celebrating Deevapali is “truth always triumphs, good will overcome evil”.

He wished for the state to move forward towards development and peaceful coexistence with the festival.
