The Peoples’ Task Force for Covid-19 (PTFC-19) has claimed that the public does not maintain the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in shopping malls and alleged that law enforcing agencies have also failed to implement the SOPs effectively in public places.

Publicity and Propaganda in-charge of PTFC-19 M Agamba Meitei has stated in a release that volunteers of PTFC-19 often witnessed that people who visit shopping malls such as Vishal Mega Mart and Bazaar India violate SOPs issued by the state government.

While stating that many people do not even wear face masks while going out for shopping, PTFC-19 has drawn the attention of the district administration to look into the matter at the earliest and appealed the public to be self-responsible.

The release also questioned why the authorities of the shopping malls are allowing people to enter the malls without face masks.

Since Vishal Mega Mart has no proper parking space, people are parking their vehicles at the roadside thereby creating traffic jams along National Highway-39, it added.

PTFC-19 will go to the extent of closing the shopping malls if the state government fails to take action against the violation of SOPs in the malls, the release said.
