The BJP Churachandpur District Mahila Morcha led by its president Thangthlatling on Wednesday donated 150 tins of paddy to Happiness Home located at Pangzawl, Churachandpur.
The 150 tins of paddy were donated personally by the president of BJP Churachandpur Mahila Morcha to the 60 destitute children from different parts of the state and foreign countries which include HIV victims. She donated the paddy tins from her share of the recently harvested paddy field owned by her.
During the programme, enrollment of beneficiaries under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme was also done. The BJP Mahila took the initiative to give benefit to every girl child under the age of 10 years and below by opening bank accounts for them and deposit the money until they attain adulthood or 18 years.
The convenor of BBBP Churachandpur Manila Morcha BJP and state executive member, Kim Paite said that the bank accounts for eight girls from the Happiness Home have been opened on Wednesday. There is a target of 100 children for the scheme in various orphanages and children homes. The money deposited can be withdrawn when the children become adults or 18 years of age, and the beneficiaries will receive the money with added compound interest, she added.
