Minister Henry extends assistance to school van-bus drivers

Henry said that the school van drivers and bus drivers have been adversely affected due to the pandemic and lockdown which began in the last week of March 2020.

Minister for MAHUD, Social Welfare and Co-operation Henry Okram assured that he would extend every possible help to school transporters and the government would consider a special assistance for those who are facing hardships due to the closure of schools since April 2020.

The minister was speaking during a programme of distribution of relief materials to school van drivers and bus drivers of Wangkhei assembly constituency held on Wednesday at Radhe Community Hall, Soibam Leikai Wangkhei Khunou, Imphal East.

Speaking as chief guest, Henry said that the school van drivers and bus drivers have been adversely affected due to the pandemic and lockdown which began in the last week of March 2020.

“After discussing with well wishers of the constituency, we decided to extend monetary and other assistance to the school transporters of the assembly constituency,” he said.

He further mentioned that the Central and state government has made every possible help to each and every citizen under various welfare schemes during the lockdown period.

During the function, a total of 120 school transporters received monetary assistance of Rs 1,000 and 20 kg of rice each.

The All Manipur School Students Transporter's Association expressed their gratitude to the minister for extending monetary assistance and relief materials to the school transporters of the constituency.
