India's COVID-19 tally crosses 86-lakh mark

The cumulative number of coronavirus cases in India is 86,36,011 and the number of active cases now stands at 4,94,657.

India's total number of coronavirus cases continue to rise as 44,281 more individuals were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive since Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry said.

The cumulative number of coronavirus cases in India is 86,36,011 and the number of active cases now stands at 4,94,657.

The number of recovered persons in the span of 24 hours is 50,326, exceeding the daily positive cases reported in a day. The recovery rate also rose to 92.79 per cent and the cumulative number of recovered cases is 80,13,783 while the death rate is was 1.5 per cent.

The infection claimed 512 lives since Tuesday, according to the latest update by the Health Ministry.

Maharastra with 45,435 deaths, Karnataka with 11,430 deaths and Tamil Nadu with 11,387 deaths are the top three states in the country with most deaths due to COVID-19, respectively.

According to official reports, the cumulative number of deaths in the country is 1,27,571.

India has so far conducted 12,07,69,151 COVID-19 tests of which 11,53,294 samples were tested in a span of past 24 hours.
