National Legal Services Day observed

The National Legal Services Day was observed at the office of Manipur Legal Services Authority, ADR Centre, Lamphelpat on Monday.

An online interaction session was also held during the observance with prize winners of the online essay competition on the theme ‘My Idea of Justice’.

The event was broadcasted live on the official facebook page of Manipur State Legal Services Authority.

The interactive session was moderated by deputy member secretary of MASLSA, Sorokhaibam Sadananda and the participants discussed their perspective on their ideas of justice in their respective essays.

Advocate Ch Momon said that National Legal Services Day is observed on November 9 every year across the country to commemorate the enactment of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. He further highlighted that the observance is to spread awareness of the availability of free legal services for the marginalised section of the society. He also gave a brief description of the hierarchy of legal services institutions in the country which is mandated to ensure justice is accessible to all.

The programme was attended by member secretary of MASLSA, Gaiphulshillu Golmei and other members of MASLSA.
