The Manipur Archery Association has condoled the sudden demise of renowned bowmaker and prominent archer of yesteryear, B Chaoba Sharma of Bhramapur Nahabam, Imphal East at his residence on Sunday.
Chaoba had represented Manipur in the National Archery Championships as well National Games in between 1978 to 1999.
After retiring from archery competitions, Chaoba pursued his dream through the medium of bow making particularly in Indian Round Archery Bows and Arrows which are made from bamboo and woods, which is similar to Recurve Bow. His product was well appreciated by Indian archers and used in competition as well. Olympian L Bombayla Devi was one of his prominent disciples to name a few.
Governor Najma Heptulla had also commended his bow making skills during a simple interaction at Raj Bhavan, Imphal some years ago.
Chairing the condolence meeting, the Manipur Archery Association president, Ph Bijenkumar Sharma said that ”we have lost a great friend and innovator and his demise will left a huge void in the field of Archery.”
