Public Relation Executives (PREs) who work under Lamjingba Group as drinking water suppliers have sealed three offices of the group located at RIMS road on Monday in connection with failure of providing water and not returning due amount of money.
Irate PREs demanded to stop false promises to them and to the customers. They expressed discontentment against the officials of Lamjingba who blocked them to meet its chairman.
The scheme of providing drinking water packages was started since 2019. Since then each PRE has collected money from over 3,000 customers and more than one crore of rupees have been collected altogether so far. But Lamjingba neither has provided water nor returned the amount of money due to them and consequently, the customers are demanding their money back.
One PRE said that the delivery charge, godown charge, driver fees are charging from their own pockets and it should be reimbursed by Lamjingba but still not paid. More than 50 lakh are owed to the PREs.
Lamjingba Group has given a commitment to refund amounts due to them however, after COVID-19 pandemic the deadline was extended. Till date there has been no significant reply from the group, said the PRE.
A group of PREs in the morning at around 7:30 am gathered before the Lamjingba Nidhi office located at RIMS road and sealed three offices namely Lamjingba Group, Lamjingba Nidhi and Lamjingba Chinjak located at RIMS road.
When the Imphal Free Press interacted with one of the PREs, Angamba Thongam of Thangmeiband, he said that he heard the news on a TV news channel stating that a case will be filed against the PREs. However, the PREs, who have become distributors for Kangla Water Package Project in 2019, have identity cards which are still valid.
Under this project, Lamjingba Group had asked the PREs to open offices, buy their own vehicles for water supply and hire drivers with handymen. Everything was done with a trust in the Lamjingba Group, said Angamba.
