Manipur's Covid-19 death toll inches close to 200 mark
Three more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Manipur on Sunday.
COVID-19 death toll in Manipur reached 197 as the illness claimed two more lives in Imphal East and one more in Thoubal while 245 more people tested positive for the viral infection on Sunday, the state health department said.
A cumulative number of 20,376 people have been confirmed for COVID-19 of the 3,70,815 total sample tests recieved till Saturday, according to the state COVID-19 status release. The total number of active cases now stands at 3,107 with the 245 new positive cases reported on Sunday.
The positive cases from the general population are 129 from Imphal West, 35 from Imphal East, 20 from Thoubal, 40 from Bishnupur, four from Kakching, two from Kangpokpi, nine from Churachandpur, one from Jiribam and two from Kamjong. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
The total number of discharged persons is 358. With it, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 17,072 and the recovery rate is 83.78 per cent.
In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, a weekly media briefing on Covid-19 is being held at the Directorate of Health Services since November 6 to facilitate effective communication between the Health Department and the public.
Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. Contact Covid Control Room or CMO for testing, the health department stated.
