A Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Khoupum Area in Manipur has called for a 48-hour bandh along Tongjei Maril road starting 5 pm November 10 for “non-adherence” to the guidelines for maintaining work quality of the Zoujangtek-Rengpang road construction.

During the proposed bandh, there will be relaxation for medical, military, water supply, electricity, and fire service, the JAC said in a release.

If the state government or the concerned department fail to fulfill the demand of the JAC, strong agitation will continue, it added.

The JAC was formed by members of the Khoupum Area Villages Authority Council, the Rongmei Lub Phuan, Khoupun Area and the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Khoupum Area.

The three bodies have been demanding the state government’s intervention in maintaining the quality of the blacktopping work of Zoujangtek-Rengpang road.
