Raj Medicity opens dedicated COVID-19 treatment block

Emergency operation will be conducted without testing by wearing PPE, hospital chairman and managing director Haobijam Rajen.

Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal on Saturday announced that it has started seeing patients without testing for COVID-18 in an open air OPD.

While only those patients requiring admission will be tested, emergency operation will be conducted without testing by wearing PPE, hospital chairman and managing director Haobijam Rajen.

Rajen was addressing a press conference in connection with the inauguration of a dedicated 21-bedded COVID-19 treatment block on Saturday in an area segregated from the main hospital building, in North AOC, Imphal.

He said that the COVID treatment block will include four ICU beds with ventilators and three High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP and will be adding 50 more beds in December.

Asserting that a homely atmosphere with dedicated nurses and doctors with extra nurses for ventilator dependent patients will be provided in the block 24X7, Rajen said that the patients will also be provided food by the hospital as prescribed by a dietician at a reasonable and affordable price.

No patient party will be allowed in the COVID block. However, they will be allowed to see the condition of the patient through window pane, he said, adding that in order to reduce cross infection, spacious block with beds having required distances between beds and cross ventilation to dilute the viral load has been provided
