Manipur’s COVID-19 recovery rate moves up to 80.90 per cent

The death toll rose to 191 as two more patients succumbed to COVID-19 in Manipur on Friday.

Seeming to provide a slight relief amid the alarming COVID-19 widespread in Manipur, a cumulative number of 16,092 recovered cases pushed the recovery rate to 80 per cent on Friday. The recovered cases included 2,506 Central security personnel.

As per the latest updates from the state COVID-19 Common Control Room on Friday, in the past 24 hours, 159 persons (85M, 74F) from the general population and seven personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases.

Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases among the general population with 77 cases, while Imphal East reported 45, Thoubal-6, Bishnupur -6, Kakching-5, Senapati-2, Ukhrul-3, Churachandpur-9, Tengnoupal-4 and Noney-2. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

Two persons, one 47-year-old male from Imphal West) and one 86-year-old male from Imphal West died at RIMS Hospital. With it, the cumulative number of deaths is 191, while the total number of discharged persons on Friday is 342, the release added.

Meanwhile, the release stated that the cumulative number of positive cases has risen to 19.891 (General Population - 17.080 and Central Security Personnel 2,811). The number of active cases is 3,608, including 301Central security personnel.

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. Contact Covid Control Room or CMO for testing, the health department stated.
