COVID-19 in Assam: Positive cases rise to 2,243 with single day spike of 128

Assam on Friday reported 128 more COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 2,243, including 1,727active cases and 509 recovered cases, official sources said.

Ninety new COVID-19 cases were reported on late Friday, state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said. Of them Dhubri reported 37 case, Dima Hasao 15, Karimganj, Cachar and Baksa reported seven cases each, Halandi six, Udalguri three. While S Salmara and Dhemaji reported two cases each,   Nalbari, Barpeta, Bongaigaon and Chirang reported one case each, the health minister said.

"90 new cases of #COVID19+. 37 Dhubri, 15 D Hasao, 7 K'ganj, 7 Cachar, 7 Baksa, 6 H'kandi, 3 Udalguri, 2 S Salmara, 2 Dhemaji, 1 each Nalbari/Barpeta/Bongaigaon/Chirang," the minister tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Darrang reported 13 cases, Dima Hasao nine, Nagaon seven and Sonitpur five. Hailakandi and Karimganj reported one case each.

"38 new cases of #COVID19+. 13 Darrang; 9 Dima Hasao; 7 Nagaon; 5 Sonitpur; 2 Hailakandi; 2 Karimganj," Sarma tweeted.

Meanwhile, a total of 50 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday, taking the total active cases to 1,727. 

Of the total 2,243 COVID-19 positive cases, four patients have succumbed to the virus while three have migrated to other states.

On Thursday, Assam registered a single-day highest spike in COVID-19 cases with 285 , taking total cases to 2,115.
