28,561 electors to decide faith of Wangoi AC on Nov 7

Three candidates namely Oinam Lukhoi Singh from BJP, Salam Joy Singh from INC and Khuraijam Loken Singh from NPP) will be contesting for the Wangoi MLA seat.

A total number of 28,561 electors will be casting their votes in the by-election of Wangoi Assembly Constitution (AC) for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly on November 7 from 7 am to 5 pm.

Three candidates namely Oinam Lukhoi Singh from BJP, Salam Joy Singh from INC and Khuraijam Loken Singh from NPP) will be contesting for the Wangoi MLA seat.

The numbers of male electors are 13,935, female electors are 14,626 (including one third gender) of which 392 are elderly electors who are above the age of 80 years.

There will be 41 polling stations including one auxilliary polling station in the ensuing by-election of Wangoi AC and out of the 41 polling stations, five are vulnerable and 36 are normal.

In all, 205 polling personnel, five per polling station will perform their duty on the poll day for smooth conduct of the election.

To avoid untoward incidents, a total of 624 security personnel, 24 security personnel each in the five vulnerable polling stations and 14 security personnel each in 36 normal polling stations will be deployed.

In order to monitor the adherence of Election Commission of India’s guidelines and SOPs, seven Flying Squads, five Static Surveillance Teams, five Video Surveillance Teams (with two teams reserved for each) along with nine Sector Magistrates including three reserved will be rendering their service.

Officials Manish Kumar as General Observer and Aditya Bikram as Expenditure Observer in coordination with 12 micro observers will be monitoring the election process for free and fair conduct of the by-election as per the ECI guidelines. The counting of votes is scheduled on November 10 which will begin at 8 am.
