Manipur Works Minister Th Biswajit threatened two of Thongju Kendra Tengbang Lup (TKTL) members through mobile phone of Irilbung police OC, alleged the organisation.
TKTL vice-president Somorjit Sadokpam, addressing a press meet on Wednesday at Manipur Press Club, Imphal, said that he and other members of TKTL Mutum Yaima were summoned at Iribung police station at 2 pm Tuesday.
The Irilbung OC called the minister from his mobile phone and let them talk with the minister, during which Biswajit threatened them, Sadokpam alleged.
“Bishwajit on the phone said why are you speaking hate speech against me, are you a goon, shall I destroy your grocery shop, do you want to spend your life in jail,” said Sadokpam.
“We do not have any bad intentions with the minister, it is unfortunate that the minister is giving such a threat to us, we condemned such hideous act of the minister,” he added.
TKTL general secretary Jawan Mutum supplemented that Biswajit should be held responsible if any untoward happened to the two members.
Asserting that TKTL which has around 500 volunteers, has been conducting COVID awareness campaigns in different parts of the Thongju constituency, the general secretary asked the minister to support them instead of threatening.
