InSIDE North East evacuates stranded Manipuris from Shillong

InSIDE North East sponsored their travel apart from distributing snacks and water bottle to all the returnees. They started the journey on Wednesday and reached home safely on Thursday

InSIDE-North East in collaboration with the Kuki Student's Organisation, Shillong helped 90 Manipuris who are stranded in Shillong, in returning home safely.

InSIDE North East sponsored their travel apart from distributing snacks and water bottle to all the returnees. They started the journey on Wednesday and reached home safely on Thursday.

The returnees mostly from Churachandpur, Chandel and Kangpokpi are students and migrant workers. When they reached their respective destination, they reported to their respective district authority and accordingly they were kept under surveillance in the quarantine centres.

Rebecca Baite, one of the returnee, said that they are deeply grateful to InSIDE-North East for being so thoughtful and sponsoring the travel while adding that they are stranded here and faced lots of difficulties and happy to get back home.

Earlier, social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen had evacuated many stranded Manipuris from Shillong while sponsoring two deluxe AC buses.
