India records rise in COVID-19 deaths, recovered cases

India has registered 1,21,090 cumulative deaths and 73,73,375 recovered cases as per the latest updates.

In what seems to be a rising season for India, the country is witnessing a rise in COVID-19 deaths as well as recovered cases, with the report of 563 more deaths and recovery rate moving up to 91.15 per cent with 57,386 recoveries in a single day.

With the new cases, the country has registered 1,21,090 cumulative deaths and 73,73,375 recovered cases as per the latest updates by the Union Health Ministry.

In the past 24 hours, 48,648 new cases were confirmed infected by COVID-19. With it, the total cases of coronavirus in the country has surged to 80,88,851, including 5,94,386 active cases.

As many as 11,64,648 samples were tested on Thursday. So far the country has tested 10,77,28,088 samples.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state due to coronavirus in India with 16,66,668 and 5,902 new cases on Thursday. The recovery rate of Maharashtra is 89.69 per cent. Although 1,28,149 persons have recovered, 43,710 persons have succumbed to the disease, including 156 new deaths in the past 24 hours, the latest official data showed.

Andhra Pradesh has 8,17,679 total cases, Karnataka 8,16,809 total cases, Tamil Nadu 7,19,403 total cases, and Uttar Pradesh 4,77,895 total cases. The four states along with Maharashtra remain the five worst-hit states by COVID-19 in India.
