COVID-19 awareness: Assam Rifles donates ventilator for people of Ukhrul

Somsai Battalion, 10 Sector Assam Rifles donated one ventilator machine for the people of Ukhrul during an awareness programme on COVID-19 which was jointly organised by 10 Sector Assam Rifles and Tangkhul Coordination Forum on COVID-19 (TCFC) at Tahao Ground, Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul district.

A colourful awareness rally accompanied by a band party of Assam Rifles was carried out in the main street of Ukhrul Town. The rally started from Wino Bazaar to Mini Secretariat Complex, Phungreitang. The awareness rally was attended by district administration, leaders of Tangkhul Civil Society,

Gurkha Community, Ukhrul police, Assam Rifles and general public. Awareness and message on COVID-19 was given through loud speaker and rally participants carried placards to spread the message on COVID-19. Masks were also distributed to the pedestrians by the Assam Rifles.

Commanding Officer of 27 Assam Rifles, Colonel Rippon Bora urged the people of Ukhrul to take utmost care such as wearing masks and washing hands.

Dr Kapangring A Shimray informed that the cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases in Ukhrul district stands at 529 till today, with 519 recoveries and 10 active patients who are admitted at COVID-19 Care Centre, Shirui.

At the end of the rally, deputy commissioner of Ukhrul, Joseph Pauline Kamsom thanked the health workers, Assam Rifles, TCFC and Ukhrul police for their contribution in fighting the pandemic. He appealed to the populace of Ukhrul to strictly follow the three rules of wearing a mask whenever he or she goes out of the house, washing hands very frequently with soap and keeping a minimum distance of 6 feet with people.
