A one-day Congress workers meet was held at 30-Lilong Assembly Constituency (AC) in connection with the November 7 by-election on Wednesday.

The key speakers in the meeting at Leirabakhong criticised the ‘One Nation and One Culture’ theory of the BJP government which, they said, severely affected the secularism of the nation, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee said in a release.

Congress candidate of Lilong AC Md Azizul Haque Khan, in his speech, appealed to the people of Lilong to cast their votes in his favour in the upcoming by-election. He promised to serve the people to his best ability and work for the welfare of Lilong AC, it said.

Azizul also emphasized on the importance of being free and fair to all citizens and not be biased to any one community or religion, it added.
