Five more COVID-19 victims push death toll to 144 in Manipur

Five more patients succumbed to COVID-19, pushing the death toll to 144 in Manipur on Monday, the state health department said.

The five patients who died were four from Imphal East and one from Imphal West, a 27-year-old female, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

The release also stated that 255 persons (135M, 120F) from the general population and seven personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases.

The positive cases from the general population are 119 from Imphal West, 47 from Imphal East, 31 from Tamenglong, 20 from Kakching, 10 from Thoubal, two from Jiribam, one from Kangpokpi, five from Bishnupur, eight from Kamjong, one from. Ukhrul, one from Senapati, nine from Churachandpur and one from Chandel, the release stated.

With the new cases, the cumulative number of positive cases is 17,424 (General Population - 14,709 and Central Security Personnel - 2,715). The number of active cases is 4,223 (General Population - 3.931 and Central Security Personnel - 292).

Five from IW are returnees while the rest are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release added.

The total number of discharged persons on Monday are 200. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 13,057 (General Population - 10.638 and Central Security Personnel 2,419). The recovery rate is 74.93 per cent.
