Teachers want training course before implementation of NEP

A seminar resolved to submit a letter to the state government and Education Ministry to conduct a six months teacher training course before implementing NEP 2020 in Manipur.

A one-day seminar on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has resolved to submit a letter to the state government and Ministry of Education to conduct a six months teacher training course before implementing NEP 2020 in Manipur.

The seminar also resolved that the state education department or SCERT along with All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) should collectively work together to conduct the training course at the earliest.

A release issued by secretary of AMRPSWA W Surjit Singh stated AMRPSWA organised a one day seminar on NEP 2020 at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul Imphal on Sunday and adopted three resolutions.

It further stated that the seminar also resolved to submit a letter to the Ministry of Education for inclusion of 30 percent regional traditions, culture, heritage, customs, language, philosophy and geography in the school syllabus and curriculum in Manipur. “The seminar also resolved to conduct a training course for private school teachers of pre-school to class 2 before implementation of NEP 2020 in the State,” it said.

Member of parliament (Rajya Sabha) Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, president of AMRPSWA Doren Khabanganba, joint director SCERT Manipur Jim Thinguijam attended the seminar as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively while associate professor of DM College of Teacher Education Kh Dineshkumar Singh and associate professor of DM College of Teacher Education W Jyotirmoy Singh were the resource persons of the seminar, added the release.
