Phaitol villagers on Saturday expressed their appreciation to Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Awangbou Newmai , who is also the MLA of Tamei assembly constituency, for creating an Sub-Deputy Collector (SDC) post in the village during a state cabinet meeting held on October 15.
In a press meet held at the residence of the village chief, Paominthang Singson, village chairman and social worker Seithang Khongsai expressed their appreciation to Newmai on behalf of the villagers.
Paominthang said that the minister had earlier set up a primary health care centre in Phaitol and has shown his concern for the village yet again by creating an SDC post.
Meanwhile, Seithang said that the misconception that Phaitol circle has been neglected by the state government is gone now as Newmai has taken care of some of the major requirements of the village.
"Phaitol area has a population of 5,000 people and having an SDC would bridge the gap between the sub-division and the district," he added.
The press meet was also attended by Phaitol village chief Seilun Singson with social workers, Pao John Singson, Kaikhou Khongsai, Thangin Setlou, Kaikhuset Khongsai and villagers of Phaitol.
