Hasby said that child abuse is wide spreading nowadays and more awareness is needed on different forms of child abuse like verbal, visual, emotional, sexual, bullying, child labour and others.

“In all actions concerning children, whether undertaken by public or private social welfare institutions, courts of law, administrative authorities or legislative bodies, the best interests of the child shall be a primary consideration,” said Hasby.

Pisak said that human trafficking was the third largest business in the world a year ago but now it has become the second largest with girls and women from north-east Indian states like Mizoram, Nagaland and Manipur in the most vulnerable list. He continued that human trafficking, with women as victims in most of the cases, are compounded by insurgency, unemployment, poverty and lack of education. There are thousands of unreported cases of women trafficking in the state, he added.

Sunil of FXB said that they have made certain projects under FXB India Suraksha that were implemented at two places but cannot be expanded due to COVID-19. Child abuse has been increased by 95 percent which are mostly due to use of mobile phones by children as they can get access to different applications and sites.
