On the first day of bus service resumption along Ukhrul-Imphal road, a passenger who travelled in Eastern Warrior bus was tested COVID-19 positive on Friday.

Buses and wingers were allowed to ply along Ukhrul-Imphal road by Tangkhul Coordination Forum on COVID-19 (TCFC) after their services were stopped for months due to the lockdown.

Reportedly, around 20 passengers were travelling in the bus, out of which one was tested positive of COVID-19. He is a resident of Kshetri Bengoon, Imphal East.

It is no longer mandatory for locals returning to Ukhrul to undergo COVID-19 test at Bakshi Ground, Ukhrul but compulsory for outsiders to have the test. Accordingly, all the local travellers who had returned from Imphal, went home without getting tested.

In this regard, TCFC has appealed to everyone travelling in the bus to report to their respective villages or local authority and undergo 14 days self isolation as well as get a confirmatory test.
