World Mental Health Day observed at Wangjing

Dr Jayentakumar stressed that the young people of the society should take important roles in creating awareness on mental health among rural masses to prevent suicide by young people.

As a part of the global observance, the World Mental Health Day 2020 was also observed on Tuesday at the auditorium of IRE College of Teachers Education, Wangjing, Thoubal District under the theme ‘Mental Health For All, Greater Investment- Greater Access, Everyone, Everywhere’.

The observance which was jointly organised by District Mental Health Programme, District Health Society Thoubal and Youth Volunteers Association, Wangjing in the presence of CMO of Thoubal, Dr N Jayentakumar, vice- chairperson of Wangjing-Lamding Municipal Council, N Binoy, district nodal officer of DMHP, Thoubal, Dr H Jina and DSWO of Thoubal, A Kameshwor as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Giving his chief guest speech, Dr Jayentakumar stressed that the young people of the society should take important roles in creating awareness on mental health among rural masses to prevent suicide by young people. 

Dr Jina spoke on mental health issues in Manipur and the importance of observing World Mental Health Day while N Binoy stressed on the role of youth clubs to create awareness on mental health.

Later, prizes of an online painting competition which was held on October 10 in connection with the World Mental Health Day were also distributed. Kalender Wangjam of Nongpok Sekmai stood first, Lorish Laishram of Thoubal Kshetri leikai and Yendrembam Dabid of Yairipok got second and third position respectively.
