S Tikendra Singh is new state BJP president

Saikhom Tikendra Singh, 66, son of late S Madhob Singh of Nambol Sabal Leikai was former chief spokesperson of state BJP and chairman of state disciplinary action committee of the said political party.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday appointed professor S Tikendra Singh as new Manipur BJP president.

An organisational appointment letter issued by national general secretary and headquarters in charge of the said political party, Arun Singh stated that Tikendra has been appointed as new state BJP president from Tuesday.

Saikhom Tikendra Singh, 66, son of late S Madhob Singh of Nambol Sabal Leikai was former chief spokesperson of state BJP and chairman of state disciplinary action committee of the said political party.

Tikendra completed his post-graduation from Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Vanarasi, Uttar Pradesh with specialization in Indian Philosophy and symbolic logic in 1973. He served as assistant professor of philosophy in Maharaja Bodhachandra College, Palace Compound, Imphal In 1974 and took voluntary retirement from the service in 1994 after serving 20 years of teaching profession to join politics in BJP.

Tikendra has been serving in the political party as senior vice president for 13 years from 1995 to 2012. Later, he also worked as general secretary (administration) of the party for 4 years during the presidentship of H Borobabu Singh from 2006 to 2009.

At present, he is working for the party as chairman, state disciplinary action committee and chief spokesperson of state BJP.

In connection with his appointment as new state president of BJP, a reception ceremony was conducted at Nambol Sabal Leikai.

Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his gratitude to the national party for appointing him as new state BJP president. He said the party needs to streamline activities in order to fill up the communication gap among MLAs and members.

He said the members of the party should not have factional instincts as it could bring miscommunication among the members. To strengthen the party and bring victory in the coming general assembly election, he will serve the party sincerely during his period as state president of BJP, he asserted.
