COVID-19 death toll rises to 86 in Manipur; confirmed cases reach 12,810

Manipur reported three more deaths due to Covid-19 on Friday.

COVID-19 claimed three more lives and affected 131 more people in Manipur, taking the death toll in the state to 86 and the total confirmed cases to 12,810, including 2,858 active cases and 9,866 recovered cases, official sources said on Friday.

Three males, one aged 52 year-old security personnel, a 40 year-old from Kakching and a 76-year-old from lmphal West expired at RIMS, JNlMS and Raj Hospital in Imphal respectively, a release from the Covid-19 Common Control Room stated.

In a span of 24 hours, 123 persons (70M. 53F) from the general population and eight personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-l9 positive cases, the release stated.

The positive cases from the general population are 24 from lmphal West; 59 from lmphal East; 12 from Thoubal; four each from Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Senapati and Jiribam; five from Kakching; three from Noney; one each from Bishnupur and Tengnoupal; two from Kangpokpi, the release added.

The release further stated that nine persons (lE-I. lW-8) are returnees while the rest are locals withoul any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Meanwhile, 147 more patients have been discharged. They are from CAPF-28. Home Isolation 8, Lamding –l, Noney- 18, PHC Haochong-2, UNACCO-2I, Sadbhavna Mandop-l3, Lamboikhong- 41, RD Wing-2, Tamenglong-3, TK Ukhrul-3, CCC Thoubal- 5, Senapati 1 and Kangpokpi - 1.

The recovery rate is 77.0l per cent.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," the health department added in the release.

In case of emergency, the public can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home between 10 am and 3 pm every day except Sunday by downloading ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ app at Google Play Store or by visiting the website ‘www.esanjeevani.opd.in’.
