Chief Minister N Biren Singh has extended his condolences on the demise of former governor of the state, Ashwani Kumar.
In his condolence message, the CM said, “I am deeply aggrieved to learn about the sad demise of former governor of Manipur, Ashwani Kumar. Before he became the governor of the state, he served in the Indian Police Service in various capacities. After his retirement, he served as the governor of Manipur during 2013. He also served as governor of Nagaland from 2013 to 2014. He was also a Rajya Sabha member and represented Punjab.” As a governor, his love for the people and contribution to the overall development of the state is still remembered. His demise is not only a loss for his family, but an irreparable loss for the entire country. The void created by his demise would be difficult to fill, he added. “On behalf of my government, I convey my deepest condolence and share grief with the bereaved family, and join the family in prayer for peace of the departed soul,” said the state chief minister.
