A woman died after normal delivery of her third child at Raj Medicity at half past midnight on Tuesday, and later the family and relatives of the deceased woman stormed at the doctor’s residence blaming that the doctor is responsible for the cause of her death.
The deceased woman has been identified as Pheirembam (o) Panthoi, 38, wife of Pheirembam Chingkheiganba alias Abung of Khagempalli Nganappi Thong. Reportedly, she was admitted to the hospital on Monday and delivered the baby at half past midnight on Tuesday.
The family and relatives of the dead mother blamed the doctor who has been treating her for the cause of death and stormed at the doctor’s residence located at Keishampat Hodam Leirak. The situation was taken under control due to timely intervention of the police.
The family members of Panthoi have demanded an apology from the doctor, saying that the doctor’s negligence has resulted in the death.
Medical superintendent of Raj Medicity, Dr Aribam Ibotombi clarified that the delivery was done perfectly but suddenly excessive bleeding started with unknown reason. He continued that Dr Sukumar, the doctor who delivered the baby, was in shock and he never expected death of the mother on normal delivery.
The doctor stayed back in the hospital keeping keen observation of the woman as she has been his patient, said Dr Ibotombi. However, the family members refused to take the body of Panthoi until Dr Sukumar makes an apology.
