A day after Nagaland heaved a sigh of relief as all the samples tested returned negative for coronavirus, six new cases of COVID-19 were reported on Tuesday, taking the states total tally to 49, official sources said.
All the six new cases are from Dimapur who had returned from Chennai, state Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said in a tweet.
"Out of 90 samples tested from Chennai returnees, 5 Male & 1 Female has tested COVID-19 +ve. All cases are from Dimapur," the minister tweeted.
Out of the total 49 cases reported so far, 31 cases are reported from Dimapur, 13 from Kohima and five from Tuensang.
On Monday, the health minister informed that no new COVID-19 cases were reported in the state since Saturday.
“No positive case of COVID-19 reported in 24 hours,” informed the minister on Twitter.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state stood at 43 since Sunday.
It may be mentioned that all the COVID-19 confirmed cases reported in the state so far are Chennai returnees.
Nagaland reported its first COVID-19 cases on May 25 after three persons who returned from Chennai, Tamil Nadu by train tested positive for the virus.
On April 12, a 33-year-old businessman from Dimapur, tested positive for COVID-19 but he was added to Assam’s tally as he was tested and treated at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Assam.
