Manipur government to discuss with stakeholders on reopening of schools: Minister Rajen

The new education minister maintained that a complaint box will be installed at the directorate of education (S), through which teachers can drop their suggestions, grievances and queries among others.

Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen on Monday said the government will discuss with various stakeholders and take an optimal decision regarding reopening of schools so that students are not affected much. He said the decision will be taken considering the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by the government.

Rajen was speaking during his reception ceremony organised by education (S) department and Samagra Shiksha, Manipur at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society, Palace Gate.

Speaking at the event, the minister stated that a society can only be developed when its citizens are educated. “Education is one of the most important factors for the growth and development of the state,” he added.

Rajen also expressed gratitude towards Chief Minister N Biren for allocating him the charge of education.

The new education minister maintained that a complaint box will be installed at the directorate of education (S), through which teachers can drop their suggestions, grievances and queries among others.

“If the complaints received are reasonable, then necessary steps will be taken up for the betterment of the education system of the state,” he assured.

The minister also stressed on the need for a thorough study of the issues, including school dropout, low admission rate at government schools, among others and to sort out strategies for addressing the issues plaguing the education sector of the state.

He also appealed to the principals, teachers and other officials of the education department to work sincerely in inculcating quality education to the students, who are the pillars of the future generation.

Commissioner, education (S), T Ranjit highlighted that the education department despite various challenges had shown various developments in the last decade. He also expressed confidence that the department will thrive towards further advancement under the guidance of the minister.

Director, education (S), L Nandakumar, chairman, Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur, L Mahendra, officials of the department and Samagra Shiksha, Manipur were also present among others during the reception ceremony.

It may be mentioned that Sorokhaibam Rajen along with other four MLAs were sworn in as ministers on September 24 at Raj Bhavan. He holds the portfolio of education, fisheries and CADA.
