Manipur's COVID-19 tally surges past 12000 mark; death toll 75

A total of 250 people tested positive for Coronavirus in Manipur on Monday.

Manipur’s COVID-19 confirmed tally crossed 12 thousand mark on Monday as 250 more people tested positive for the viral infection, while one more patient succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll in the state to 75 in the past twenty-four hours, official sources said.

As many as 192 persons – 116 males, 76 Females from general population and 58 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases on Monday, the 5 pm bulletin from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated. It stated that one male aged 60 years from Imphal West expired at JNIMS.

The new positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West – 56; Ukhrul – two; Thoubal – 15; Bishnupur – 4; Kakching - 21; Tamenglong- 8; Churachandpur – 17; Imphal East - 57; Kangpokpi - 3; Senapati – 1; Tengnoupal - 8. All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

With the 250 new positive cases, the cumulative number of positive cases reached 12,105, including 9,642 from the general population and 2,463 Central Security Personnel.

Meanwhile, 129 more patients have been discharged from different facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. The discharged patients are from CAPF (8), Home Isolation (9), UNACCO (17), JNIMS (15), Lamding (11), Lamboikhongnangkhong (64) and Thoubal (5). With it, the cumulative number of recovered cases is 9,334, while the number of active cases is 2,696 (General Population - 2,322 and Central Security Personnel -374). The recovery rate is 77.10 per cent.

It has been reported in some local newspapers that CCCS in Thoubal and Churachandpur are closed down due to lack of funds. There is no closing of CCCS duc to lack of funds, clarified Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson Health Department, Manipur.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," the health department stated.

The public can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home between 10 am and 3 pm every day except Sunday by downloading ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ app at Google Play Store or by visiting the website ‘www.esanjeevani.opd.in’.
