The Thoubal district police has filed 13 charge sheets against the target set of 15 and lodged 30 First Information Reports (FIRs) against the target set of 32 FIRs.
The district police, in a statement, said during September, CDO Thoubal had seized 40,000 WY tablets, 50 grams of heroin powder, 73,200 packets of Gudang Garam international cigarettes, 11,500 packets of Dunhill London cigarettes, 304 numbers of contraband cough syrup bottles and few litres of DIC liquors.
Moreover, Thoubal police also had arrested 10 drug smugglers, two tobacco product smugglers along with two Tata Tippers, two cars and one two-wheeler vehicle, the release added.
It further said that Thoubal police had collected a fine of Rs 1,94,350 for the month of September from the persons who were not wearing face masks and under MV Act.
The statement further said that a meeting was also convened on Friday to assess the law and order of the district for the month of October.
In the meeting, the district police discussed about the upcoming by-election in Lilong and Wangjing-Tentha assembly constituencies, model code of conduct, defacement of public properties, deposit of licensed arms, security requirements, deployments among others. It also discussed the case disposal during September, it added.
Annual awards in the form of gifts and appreciation letters were also been distributed during the meeting, it said.
Lilong Police Station was awarded ‘Best Police Station for the Year 2020’, followed by ‘Best Investigating Officer 2020’ to sub-inspector, N Sudhir Singh of Thoubal PS, ‘Best CDO Commander’ to Havildar Md Kamal Hassan and ‘Best DHQ Thoubal Staff’ to head constable, T Ratan of RO staff.
During the meeting, Thoubal District Police also bid farewell to inspector, O Ajit, who was the OC Lilong PS and has been transferred out of the district, said the release.
