KUDC threatens to close down Kumbi Municipal Council office

The Kumbi Urban Development Committee (KUDC) has warned to close down the Kumbi Municipal Council office from October 6 if they fail to form a management committee by October 5.

The Kumbi Urban Development Committee (KUDC) has warned of closing down the office of Kumbi Municipal Council from October 6 over alleged failure of the council to form management committee for operation and maintenance of Hawaipokpi water supply scheme.

KUDC, in a release, condemned the councillors of Kumbi Municipal Council for its failure to constitute a management committee.

It warned to close down the Kumbi Municipal Council office from October 6 if they fail to form the committee by October 5.

The release said that a joint meeting convened at conference hall of PHED, Bishnupur on June 11 resolved to form a committee called “Handing Over and Taking Over for Operation and Maintenance of Kumbi Hawaipokpi Water Supply Scheme”. The councillors, however, have not taken up any steps till date even though the meeting was attended by ex MLA, S Bira, most of the councillors, volunteers of KUDC and executive engineer of PHED, Bishnupur Division, it contended.

Even PHED Bishnupur Division had approved for its formation as well, it said adding that KUDC decided to take up various democratic steps if the councillors fail to constitute the committee before October 5.
