Manipur Muslim Council warns of protest against custodial death

Muslim Council Manipur threatened to agitations if the state government fails to materialised its assurance in connection with the custodial death of police constable Md. Manjur Ahmed at the joint integration cell of Manipur police on March 30 2019.

Muslim Council Manipur on Thursday threatened it will launch agitations if the state government fails to materialised its assurance in connection with the custodial death of police constable Md. Manjur Ahmed at the joint integration cell of Manipur police on March 30 2019.

A release by president of Manipur Muslim Council, Haji Arfat Ali stated that the council has an apprehension that the state government has not fulfilled its assurance because a former advisor of the JAC had criticise the BJP during the Lok Sabha election.

The release added that Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation had also submitted an ultimatum to the state government regarding the issue. The council will also seek the support of other Meitei Pangal civil voluntary organisations to support the agitations,said the release.

It may be mentioned that Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation, after consulting civil voluntary organisations on September 13 has demanded special pay (full salary) to the mother of Md. Manjur Ahmed till his service retirement period, an appropriate government service to the next of kin of the deceased and speedy trial in connection with the death.
