Manipur COVID-19 confirmed tally crossed the 11,000-mark as 128 more persons, including 16 Central Armed Police Force (CAP) personnel, were confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus and the death toll rose to 68 after one more person died in at JNIMS on in a span of 24 hours, official sources said.
The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Manipur is now 11,111, including 2,402 active cases and 8,641 recovered cases.
Of the new positive cases among the general population 40 are from Imphal West, 18 from Tamenglong, 16 from Noney, 13 from Imphal East, five from Thoubal, four each from Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Ukhrul, two each from Senapati, Kakching and Jiribam and one each from Tengnoupal and Chandel. Only seven persons from Imphal East are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without significant travel history, a release by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
The new COVID-19 positive cases are being shifted to COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.
The cumulative number of deaths in the state rose to 68 after a 50-year-old man from Thoubal died at JNIMS in a span of 24 hours. A total of 181 persons were discharged on Thursday and the recovery rate is 77.76 per cent, the release stated.
Meanwhile, in view of the detection of three COVID-19 cases at the United Bank of India, Main Branch, Tamenglong, the District Magistrate, Armstrong Pamei on Thursday declared the bank premises a containment zone as a preventive measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 with immediate effect.
