Tamenglong district, Manipur on Wednesday recorded 18 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total count to 462, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
With the detection of the new positive cases, the number of active cases in the district is now 106 while the number of recovered cases stands at 356, the release stated.
On Tuesday, as many as 40 more people in the district tested positive for COVID-19.
Following the surge in the new cases, the District magistrate of Tamenglong, Armstrong Pame has ordered closure of all markets and shops establishments, including pharmacy and essential commodities shops, in and around Jadonang Bazaar till the UBS Junction traffic point as a part of containment measures until further notice..
The entire area under Chingkhiulong colony, Ward No V, District Council Colony and Model Village Area were also declared containment zones by the district administration.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," the health department stated.
