Assam issues modified SOPs; no COVID-19 test, quarantine if negative test report produced during arrival

Any person who had previously tested COVID-19 positive and subsequently tested negative need not undergo COVID-19 test if a negative test report can be produced during their arrival in Assam.

Assam has issued a partial modification in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in respect to persons arriving in the state, according to official sources.

As per the modified SOP, any person who had previously tested COVID-19 positive and subsequently tested negative need not undergo COVID-19 test if a negative test report can be produced during their arrival in Assam by air, road or railways. Moreover, no isolation or quarantine is required, subject to the production of satisfactory test result documents.

“Any person who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 and subsequently tested negative, need not undergo Rapid Antigen/RT-PCR testing on arrival in Assam by air/road/railways, and isolation/quarantine, subject to production of satisfactory test result document,” a release issued by the state Health and Family Welfare Department stated.

Meanwhile, the total number of COVID- 19 confirmed cases in Assam is 1,77,221, including 32,539 active cases and 680 deaths. As many as 1,702 patients were discharged on Tuesday, pushing the state's recovered cases to 14,3999.
