After a lapse of nearly two years, Seipet Zingsho Phungreitang in Ukhrul got a new transformer installed as the old one had stopped functioning since 2018.
Seipet Zingsho Phungreitang chairman Mawonthing Luikham said to this correspondent that the transformer of the locality had stopped functioning since October 2018. A used transformer was replaced in 2019 but it did not last. MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur finally made arrangement for a new transformer that was installed, he said.
The chairman added that in 2019, the households of the locality were using electricity by getting connections from different transformer meant for other consumers.
“Since we were without electricity for a long time, we had to buy very long electric wires to get connection from the neighbouring localities. It is indeed a big relief that we have our own transformer now. I on behalf of the locality would like to express immense gratitude to Alfred Kanngam Arthur for arranging the much needed transformer,” Mawonthing said.
The installation of the transformer was completed a few days ago and now the locals are getting electricity connection from their own transformer.
