AB-PMJAY: Saikul Community Health Centre awarded Best CHC in Manipur

Saikul CHC was given the award for best implementation of the Ayush Bharat-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana in Manipur.

The Saikul Community Health Centre in Kangpokpi district has been awarded the ‘Best CHC’ in Manipur for implementation of the Ayush Bharat-Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the state as a part of the 2nd anniversary of AB-PMJAY.

The award distribution was held on Monday at the conference hall of DC Kangpokpi, organised by the district administration as directed on behalf of the state health agency, Manipur to handover the award and felicitate CHC Saikul.

Deputy commissioner of Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam handed over the ‘certificate of excellence’ along with a cheque of Rs 5,000 to MO of CHC Saikul, Dr John Lupheng in the presence of CMO of Kangpokpi, N Nilakanta Singh, AC to DC, Kaigoulal Kipgen and other medical officials.

Highly appreciating the achievement of CHC Saikul, Somorjit Salam said that health is the most important factor for the growth of a nation and society and the health insurance initiated by the government is a novel initiative for the upliftment of the nation.

Dr N Nilakanta Singh also appreciated the commendable efforts and contribution made by the health officials and staff of CHC Saikul in achieving the feat while hinting that 25 percent goes into poverty by illness which the government needs to intervene by increasing access to health care by poor people.

He also motivated the medical officers and other health workers to join hands together and try to find out all possible means to address the problem of health care by the poor people in the district as a whole.

Narrating the achievement of the award, Dr John Lupheng said that empanelment under PMJAY is done after verification from the State Health Agency (SHA). A team of state health agency visited the health centre last year for physical verification for empanelment under PMJAY and CMHT schemes.

He continued that after being found by the SHA for fulfilling the criteria, the State Empanelment Committee approved for the empanelment of CHC Saikul for PMJAY/CMHT and to ensure the successful implementation of the scheme in the health centre, the CHC Saikul authority with the support of the SHA and ISA conducted four days mass enrolment camp in CHC Saikul last year where more than 700 eligible beneficiary were enrolled under PMJAY scheme.

The enrolment continued in the health centre and as of now more than 1,800 beneficiaries have already been enrolled more than 78 PMJAY beneficiaries availed the free hospitalization services in CHC Saikul till date who were treated without any expenditure, he added.

It may be mentioned that CHC Saikul had earlier also won the ‘Kayakalp Best PHC Award’ consecutively in 2018 and 2019 and became the highest achiever amongst the health centres in Kangpokpi. It had also achieved the top position among all PHC/CHCs in the entire hill districts last year for its service in OPD and IPD.
