Manipur COVID-19 confirmed tally reaches 10,477 as 178 more test positive

Of the 178 new COVID-19 positive cases reported on Monday, 157 persons are from the general population and 21 persons are CAPF personnel.

Manipur's COVID-19 tally on Monday surged to 10,477 as 178 more persons, including 21 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel, tested positive for the novel coronavirus in a span of 24 hours, official sources said. 

Of the 178 new COVID-19 positive cases reported on Monday, 157 persons, 79 males and 78 females, are from the general population and 21 persons are CAPF personnel,  a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

The new cases among the general population include 58 from Imphal East, 33 from Imphal West, 17 each from Thoubal and Tamenglong, 11 from Noney, six each from Churachandpur and Kakching, three from Kangpokpi and two from Bishnupur. Only one from Imphal East is a returnee from other state while the rest 156 are locals without any significant travel history, the release stated. 

With the new positive cases the cumulative number of active cases is 2,431 (general population - 1,949 and CAPF - 482).  The cumulative number of deaths remains 64.

The new COVID-19 positive cases are being shifted to COVID Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added. 

Meanwhile, 106 persons were discharged in a span of 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. With it, the total number of recovered cases is 7,982 and the recovery rate is 76.18 per cent, the state health department said.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," it stated.

The public can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home between 10 am and 3 pm every day except Sunday by downloading ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ app at Google Play Store or by visiting the website ‘www.esanjeevani.opd.in,’ the release added.
