Mizoram: 43 more persons test COVID-19 positive; total tally rises to 1,908

Of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, as many as 1,373 persons have recovered while the number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 535.

The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Mizoram surged to 1,908 - 1,563 males and 345 females, after 43 more persons were confirmed positive for the virus on Sunday, official sources said.

"43 new positive cases detected on 43 new positive cases detected on 27.9.2020. RT-PCR positive: 36 cases, TrueNAT positive: 6 cases, Rapid Antigen Test positive: 1 case," DIPR Mizoram tweeted on Monday.

Of the new COVID-19 positive cases, five cases are contacts of positive persons, 31 from quarantine facilities including 10 Assam Rifles (AR), 18 Border Security Force (BSF), one BRO personnel and two civilians. Another six AR personnel tested positive for the virus in Lunglei district and Aizawl recorded one new COVID-19 case on Sunday, the DIPR said in another tweet.

In Mizoram, the number of recoveries has surpassed the number of active cases. Of the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, as many as 1,373 persons have recovered while the number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 535.

Aizawl has the maximum number of COVID-19 active cases with 408, followed by Lunglei with 68 and Serchip with 32 cases. Meanwhile, no new COVID-19 case was reported from Siaha, Hnahthial and Saitual districts after all COVID-19 patients have recovered from the infection, according to an update posted by the state DIPR on Twitter.
