Meghalaya records new highest single day recovery

The overall number of recoveries in Meghalaya is 3,654 cases.

Meghalaya on Saturday recorded the highest single day recoveries of COVID-19 cases with 311 recovery cases, preceding Friday's figure of 285. Now the overall number of recoveries is at 3,654 of which 3,343 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.

Director Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said 54 more people tested positive for the viral infection during the past 24 hours, taking the number of active cases up to 1,515 as on date.

Regarding the recovery cases, out of the 311 recovered COVID-19 cases, 234 which include 199 civilians and 35 armed and paramilitary forces (A/FP) are from East Khasi Hills, one of the worst hit districts out of the 11 in the State. In East Jaintia Hills, 51 patients have recovered, 16 in Ri Bhoi (15 civilians and 1 A/FP),7 in West Garo Hills, 2 in West Khasi Hills and 1 from West Jaintia Hills

War also informed that 51 more cases have recovered in East Jaintia Hills district, 16 persons include 15 civilians and one Armed Force in Ri-Bhoi district, seven in West Garo Hills district, two in West Khasi Hills district and one in West Jaintia Hills district.

Of the 54 new cases, 31 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills, 12 from West Garo Hills, 6 from East Garo Hills, 2 in Ri-Bhoi district and 1each from South Garo Hills, East and West Jaintia Hills.

Dr. War said that 1,103 COVID-19 patients are undergoing institutional quarantine while 107 are on home quarantine and isolation.

“Till date, swab samples of 1,42,426 persons have been sent for testing,” the medical official said, adding that 73,746 swab samples were tested in CB-NAAT, Truenat  and Rapid Antigen Test, while 63,468 were tested by RT-PCR.

So far, Meghalaya has detected a total of 5, 212 COVID-19 out of which 1,515 are active cases, 3,654 recovered and 43 deaths.
