Manipur reported highest spike of COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday with a total of 260 more persons testing positive for the virus in a span of 24 hours. With this the total tally of COVID-19 positive cases reached 10,051. The death toll of COVID-19 also rose to 64 as a female patient from Imphal East succumbed to the illness at RIMS on Saturday.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room, in a statement, said of the 260 positive cases reported on Saturday 20 individuals are CAPF personnel and the remaining 240 are from the general population (145 male and 95 female), it added.
Of the 240 new cases from the general population 120 are from Imphal West, 36 from Imphal East, two each from Tamenglong, Kamjong and Senapati, 16 from Ukhrul, 11 from Noney, one from Kakching, 20 from Churachandpur, six from Jiribam, 21 from Thoubal, and three from Bishnupur.
As many as 232 new cases of the total 240 from the general population are locals with no travel history, while eight are returnees from other states, the release mentioned.
It further said that 79 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours and the cumulative number of recovered cases is 7,681 with the recovery rate of 76.42 per cent, the release added.
