Manipur COVID-19 Updates: 161 new positive cases; total tally 9,537

Of the new positive cases, only seven persons are returnees from other states while the rest 124 are locals without any travel history.

Manipur on Thursday reported 161 new COVID-19 positive cases, including 30 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in the last 24 hours, taking the state's total tally to 9,537, official sources said.

Of the new positive cases from the general population, 34 are from Imphal East, 33 from Imphal West, 21 from Churachandpur, 16 from Thoubal, nine from Kakching, eight from Ukhrul, and one each from Chandel, Kamjong and Senapati, a release from the COVID-19 Common Control Room. Of them, only seven persons are returnees from other states while the rest 124 are locals without any travel history, it added.

All the new Covid cases are being shifted to Covid Care centres across the state and all necessary medical precaution measures and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

Meanwhile, 261 persons were discharged in the past 24 hours after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, taking the total recovered cases to 7,369. The number of active cases stands at 2,106 (general population - 1,759 and CAPF - 347) and the cumulative number of deaths is 62, the release added.

The state health department further stated that in case of emergency, the public can call Psychological Support Helpline Number 8787457035, 9402751364, 7629943596; Hospitalisation Helpline Toll-Free Number 18001032015 and Helpline Covid-19 Common Control Room Number - 18003453818 are available 24x7, it stated, adding that one can register for positive and inspiring stories by volunteers and organizations.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," it added.
