Manipur home department must provide besides detaining SOP violators: IRCS

Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal east branch, chairman Narendra Ningomba suggested that the home department should also take the initiative to provide masks to the people apart from detaining them for not wearing masks at public places.

A release by publicity and propaganda in charge of People Task Force For COVID-19(PTFC-19), M. Angamba Meitei stated that Narendra Ningomba made the statement while speaking as a resource person at  COVID-19 awareness programme at Lamlai on Sunday.

The release added that Narendra also appealed to the local clubs to take the initiative to provide masks to the public besides distributing the daily essential items said the release.

Further the release added that Narendra highlighted the difficulties faced by poorer sections of the society in buying a mask, apart from the burden they faced in procuring daily essential items.

In his speech, the chairman also claimed that many poorer sections have to reuse a single mask which makes them vulnerable to being infected with the virus, said the release.

Head of department, Community Medicine Regional Institute of Medical Science, Dr. Brojen Akoijam while speaking as a resource person of the awareness program said that people should not panic to perform their daily activities if they follow the SOP of COVID-19, the release said.

The release also added that awareness programmes were also conducted at Yaingangpokpi Bazar and Awang Jiri Naharol Yaipha Club Sanglen,Awang Jiri. PTDC-19 will continue to organise awareness programmes at different localities in the State, the release added.

The release further added that the awareness programme was conducted by Peoples’ Task Force for Covid-19,(PTFC-19), Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch, Indian Medical Association and Association for Health Care Providers of India at Lai Haraobung Lamlai on Sunday.
