Workshop on skilling project for rural unemployed youths in Manipur

The workshop conducted by Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission was attended by 18 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) of the state.

The Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM), department of rural development and panchayati raj, Manipur conducted a one-day workshop on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen KaushalyaYojana (DDU-GKY), a skilling project for rural unemployed youths of the state on Monday at PN Regional Institute of Skill Development, Lamlong.

A release by chief operating office-skills, MSRLM, Kh Bobby stated that the workshop was attended by 18 Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) of the state.

The release stated that, director of the PN Regional institute of Skill Development, Guchunglen Kom while speaking at the workshop assured that the regional institute will become the highest job creator of the country in the times to come.

He also said the institution will strive harder to impart skills to the maximum number of unemployed youths of the state and the country so that they become self-dependent and help in the economic growth of the country, the release added.

State mission director, Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Roblta Yumnam, congratulated the director of the institute for setting up such an institution, which is also the second-largest skill provider for the differently-abled in India, the release said.

The workshop assessed the readiness of the PIAs to reopen the training centres with the new COVID-19 SOP for Skills Training. Various strategies on mobilisation, re-employment and monitoring of DDU-GKY SKill program were discussed along with stakeholders present in the workshop, it added.
