DESAM to monitor colleges running against National Council for Teacher Education guidelines

The students’ body has some evidence that some of the teachers are violating the norms and guidelines of NCTE, and precisely few government teachers are teaching in other colleges, alleged DESAM.

The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has decided to monitor the colleges of teacher education and submit a report against those colleges which are running against the norm and guidelines of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

A release issued by secretary publicity and propaganda, DESAM, Sh Rishikumar said that on August 3, 2016 an agreement was signed between DESAM and Coordinating Committee of Teacher Education affiliated under Manipur University that was witnessed by director of College Development Council (CDC). In the agreement it was mentioned that teachers of education college will strictly follow the norms and guidelines of NCTE, 2014, it added.

However, the students’ body has some evidence that some of the teachers are violating the norms and guidelines of NCTE, and precisely few government teachers are teaching in other colleges, alleged DESAM in the release.

The colleges of teacher education which cannot follow the norms and guidelines of NCTE, 2014 needed to be shut down. DESAM will send letters to the respective colleges immediately who failed to follow the norms and guidelines, it added.
