Footballer Ningthoujam Ramananda Singh from Moirang Ngangkha Lawai is currently undergoing Haemodialysis at Shija Hospitals three times a week as an In-Patient. His Blood Pressure is under control and vision improves and he can count fingers.

Deputy general manager, business development, Shija Hospital and Research Institute Private limited Santosh Shekhar in a release on Saturday stated that Ramananda is currently under the care of  kidney transplant team and Retina specialist. Dialysis Vascular Access has been established with a temporary Internal Jugular Vein Catheter in the right side of the neck.

The release added that an Artery Venous Fistula (AVF) has been constructed and he is currently being worked up to establish possible causes of Kidney Failure. A Kidney transplant is being considered while the patient stabilizes provided he has a blood group matching close relatives as a donor, the release said.

Ramananda’s father who is a potential donor is under investigation. Further investigations and preparation for legal documents are being prepared while the patient is on maintenance dialysis, it added.

Ramanda was referred from Raj Medicity, Imphal on 31 August 2020 for management of Chronic Kidney failure at Shija Hospitals and he was previously admitted at JNIMS.

Ramananda was presented with a history of vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort and blurred vision and he had undergone Dialysis at Raj Medicity. On evaluation, he was found to have Kidney Failure which is most likely to be Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). He also has severe hypertension resulting to Hypertensive Retinopathy as well as Exudative Retinal Detachment of both eyes which has resulted in his blurred.

Like many centers in India, Shija has stopped kidney transplantation since the lockdown from March 2020 as risk is higher during the Covid-19 Pandemic and a dozen patients with CKD are also in the Wait List.

Arrangement is being made for separate dialysis facilities for chronic kidney diseases (CKD) patients with Covid 19 or suspected Covid 19 to resume the kidney transplantation program at Shija at the earliest.

Chief minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh is also keenly following up on the latest development on Ramananda said the release.
