As a part of the National Nutrition Month 2020 (Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2020), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Thoubal organised ‘poshan abhiyan cum farm women training programme’ at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khangabok, Thoubal on Thursday.
The programme was attended by Education minister, Th Radheshyam as chief guest. It was also attended by rice breeder of Rice Station Khangabok, Kh Ngamreishang, district project officer of ICDS, Thoubal, T Anita Devi and senior scientist and head of KVK Thoubal, Dr Zesmarani Sarangthem as the presidium members. Anganwadi workers and helpers were also present in the programme.
In his speech, Radheshyam said that Anganwadi workers should take an important role in providing nutritious food to the growing children and lactating mothers. They should provide knowledge of growing fruits and other vegetables in their gardens so that they can at least get some balanced food items without spending money, he added.
“To build a good society, we need to take care of the children,” stated the minister.
During the programme, various experts spoke about providing balance diet and developing nutri-gardens. Later, seeds and fruit tree saplings were also distributed to the Anganwadi workers to develop the nutri-gardens.
